This book shares a short version of the ballet with words, beautiful illustrations, and snippets of music from each major act of the ballet Sleeping Beauty by Tchaikovsky。 I got this book not too long ago and I’ve already read it tons of times because it’s my 3 year-old daughter’s favorite book。 She brings it to me all the time。 She loves the music and illustrations and so do I。 The only drawback is that the snippets of music from the ballet are short and it’s hard for a kid (and sometimes an ad This book shares a short version of the ballet with words, beautiful illustrations, and snippets of music from each major act of the ballet Sleeping Beauty by Tchaikovsky。 I got this book not too long ago and I’ve already read it tons of times because it’s my 3 year-old daughter’s favorite book。 She brings it to me all the time。 She loves the music and illustrations and so do I。 The only drawback is that the snippets of music from the ballet are short and it’s hard for a kid (and sometimes an adult) to push the buttons and get them to play。 It’s still a favorite of both of ours and even if she wears it out from using it too much I’d buy her another one in a heartbeat。 In fact I’m going to get the other books in “The Story Orchestra” line。 。。。more

Upeasti kuvitettu ja kerrottu versio Prinsessa Ruususesta。 Nuottia painamalla aukeamaan liittyvää sävelmää saadaan kunnella pieni hetki。 Viimeiseltä aukeamalta löytyy tietoa säveltäjästä ja baletista。 Tämä teos on kulttuuriteko, toivotaan lisäosia sarjaan!

This is simply beautiful! The illustrations are gorgeous and the concept of pressing the pages to play the music is just delightful。 I wish the clips were a bit longer but as it is works just fine

Täydet viisi tähteä jo pelkästä kulttuuriteosta: oli aikakin saada oopperaa, balettia esitteleviä teoksia taas suomeksi ja peräti musiikin kera。 Toivottavasti WSOY myös jatkaa tätä Satujen orkesteri -sarjaa。 Vähän ihmettelin ääninäytteiden lyhyyttä, soisi olevan pidempiä per aukeama。

The story of Sleeping beauty told in short snippets with a musical button to play parts of Tchaivoskies musical piece Sleeping Beauty。 Elementary and up

4 stars for the beautiful illustrations and music。 The writing is basic and lengthy (and a bit hilarious)。 The kids love it。

Sally

A beautiful addition to our home library and an introduction to Tchaikovsky。

it also says that after she has given her parents a big hug and had a great dinner of cakes and ice cream that the prince and princess talk for hours and “as time passes, they start to fall in love。” The Clip here is Panarama which sounds dreamy and magical and goes upwards seeming to predict Aurora waking up。Page 10 tells us that “after a few years” the prince and princess marry (instead of right away as in other versions of the story) The trees are decorated with lights, confetti flutters down from the sky and fairy-tale characters and townspeople have come to celebrate。 In the picture we seem to see red riding hood, her grandmother and the wolf。 A great green giant dancing with a princess and what appears to be puss in boots dancing with his date a white cat。 The clip here is The Wedding, Coda - the brass play a repeated phrase that sounds like church wedding bells。 The snare drum plays an exciting drum roll and the strings whirl in a flurry of notes。 The final pages show us a short biography of Tchaikavsky saying that while he started learning piano at age five that he didn’t study music seriously until he went to college in his twenties。 And that he based his on a French Fairy Tale “La Belle au Bois Dormant” which it translates as “The Beauty Sleeping in the Woods” by Charles Perrault。 The final pages also has a short glossary with words like “Waltz” and “Composer” interestingly the glossary is not in alphabetical order but maybe since it is only six definitions long they didn’t think it was necessary。 It also contains information on each clip of music that I was summarizing above。Juniper 。。。more

I loved this version and read it twice! The illustrations are beautiful, characters are cute, and the music of course goes perfectly with the story。 I sometimes forget that Disney's "Once Upon a Dream" is actually based off of the Tchaikovsky piece。 I loved this version and read it twice!
